Project description:
KCA London was appointed to recruit and train the new mediator team at the Louvre Abu Dhabi. The mediators are the public face of the museum, delivering tours and educational activities to visitors and guests. They embody the UAE’s commitment to a flourishing arts and cultural sector.
Our recruitment and initial training of the mediator team were completed in just 12 weeks. During that time, we received over 500 applications, interviewed 117 candidates and recruited 30 talented mediators from the UAE and across the world.
The training included modules in theories of museology, art history and learning in museums, and helped the team build up a detailed understanding of the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s development, architecture and artworks. The team were also taught a range of techniques to facilitate engagement with the museum’s content, including presentation skills, visitor management and overcoming barriers to learning. As a final part of the training, we worked with the mediators to develop the structure and content of their early tours and programmes.
During the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s high-profile opening events, the mediator team were responsible for delivering tours to VIP visitors and received much praise from representatives of iconic cultural organisations from around the world.
After the museum’s opening, we continued to support the mediator team, in particular, training them to deliver tours for new temporary exhibitions. We also helped the team to develop new programmes and activities.

It was active and engaging and the trainers created such a positive environment in which everyone could speak freely
