Project description:
The ancient oasis city of Fayd in northern Saudi Arabia is a little-known, but long-standing archaeological site. We were appointed to develop the interpretive approach for a new visitor centre there – the Abdullatif Jameel Centre for Antiquities and Heritage.
We worked with National Talents, the design consultants, and the client’s archaeological experts to develop the main narrative approach for the centre, as well as the detailed interpretation plans, exhibit briefs and final graphic and exhibit text. We designed the narrative approach around the relatively small object collection and large gaps in knowledge about the city’s past, combining a chronological history of the city with narratives about the archaeological and historical processes being used to uncover that history.
