Project description:
The National Maritime Museum wanted to create an under-7s children’s gallery that would inspire learning through play and act as a launchpad into the museum’s collections and exhibitions.
We were commissioned to design, build and install this new exhibition. Drawing from the museum’s extensive collections, we identified key objects and stories that would spark children’s imaginations and support open-ended, imaginative play. We then used these as the framework for a vibrant new immersive playspace for the museum, which explored the world of ships and shipping. To ensure the exhibition was engaging and accessible to families and children, we worked closely with early years experts and local families and schools, shadowing visits and testing prototype activities.
