Project description:
The Sphere was the centrepiece of Expo 2017 in Astana. Containing the Museum of Future Energy and Kazakhstan’s national pavilion, it was central to both the architecture of the expo site and the event’s core theme of Future Energy.
We were commissioned to masterplan the visitor experience and operations of the museum and pavilion. This included developing the content and design approaches, and the initial operational plan, as well as the principles for how the Sphere would be repurposed as a permanent museum following the expo.
The project was developed as a lasting statement of Kazakhstan’s commitment to its people and the science that will shape their lives. It continues to welcome visitors today as Nur Alem – the Museum of Future Energy.
